Who are we?

This website was created by the Registered Dietitians of Fraser Health Authority’s Health Promotion and Prevention department. All of our dietitians are registered with the BC College of Dietitians.

Why do we want you to eat together?

Our goal is to teach you about healthy eating so that you can provide healthy food for yourself and your family.

When families eat together, they eat healthier. Studies have shown that children from families that regularly eat meals together eat more fruits and vegetables, get more nutrients like fibre, calcium, and folate, and are at lower risk of becoming overweight.

The benefits aren’t just nutritional. Mealtimes give families the chance to talk together. Adolescents from families that eat together more frequently have better school performance, lower risk for substance abuse and better social adjustment (fewer fights, decreased early sexual activity).

Why did we create this website?

Parents tell us that they want to eat healthy meals together with their family more often. However, getting a healthy meal on the table, and having your family there to enjoy it with you, isn’t always easy. We know - we’re parents too!

We asked parents from around Fraser Health what they need to help them prepare and enjoy eating meals with their family. They told us they want easy recipes, menu planning tools, tips, and more, and they want this information to be available on-line. So, we created this website.
